Satsuma may have stolen my heart before I began college, but Pulp and Grind, which is owned by the same owners who own Satsuma, became my quiet little home away from the office and my first food memory of my professional career. I was first exposed to Pulp and Grind about a year ago. I had been at my new job for a couple of days and my manager suggested that I shadow a coworker that week and attend a meeting she was having with a new client. There are two versions of myself, a few minutes late because I was too busy reading some article and lost track of time A.Classy or super early because I was nervous I was going to be late A.Classy. On this particular day I was super early for this meeting. I think I circled the block a couple of times to see if time would pass by faster, but I was extra early so I decided to park near where the client’s office was located and wait for my coworker to show up for our meeting. I just so happened to park right outside of Pulp and Grind.
Due to me rushing to make sure I was early and didn’t run into any traffic, I had skipped out on breakfast and therefore decided to see if I could grab something to eat from this local coffee shop. I ended up grabbing a bagel and a PGL bottled juice (pineapple, ginger, lime, purified water, local raw sugar). I think that was one of the best juices I have ever had in my life. It was so good I came back about two more times to grab some juice because it helped make my throat feel better whenever I felt like I was coming down with a cold. Since that first day I have loved this cute little coffee and juice shop.
My last visit was sweet! They had just made some delicious lemon, olive oil, coconut cupcakes with lavender buttercream.
I also tried “The Cleanser” juice which has cucumber, celery, beet, and lemon in it. It was a different taste, but I didn’t mind it. It’s one those drinks that has an unfamiliar taste, but you don’t mind it because you know you’re drinking something that is good for your body. Healthy points…..yay!
I have yet to try their coffee, but I would highly recommend this place just based on their juice and sweet treats. It’s also super cute inside:
