It’s very rare to find chill places that are near popular tourist areas, especially during a major conference, but I managed to discover a spot. During the craziness that is SXSW I found myself on the other side of the interstate at Cosmic Saltillo at their east Austin location in Texas.
You can’t go wrong with a taco and a margarita. When in Texas, eat Mexican food. Duh! I grabbed a late lunch with a friend and we ordered the carnitas, guajillo chicken, and the al pastor tacos with a side of queso and chips. The food was 10/10.
For my drink I ordered the Tepache Margarita with tajin on the rim. I apologize to my colleague if I was licking my rim while they discussed something serious. I needed to get my money’s worth. My drink was 10/10.
We sat outside and I was able to make friends with the cutest pup ever. Good food, fresh air, great drinks, and nice people, a wonderful combination. I will definitely be back the next time I am in town.
