Made an attempt to create #manakeesh with cheese. Knowing my history with dough (IYKYK), I think this is the best bread I’ve ever made in my life. It actually baked well.

I need to work on portions and shaping but I’m still proud of myself.

Recipe is from the creator Mxriym

In a bowl mix together

  • 2 cups of warm water
  • 2 tbsp of active dry yeast
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 2 cups of AP flour

Cover your sponge and let it rest for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes add in the rest of your ingredient s and mix with your hands.

  • 3 more cups of AP flour
  • 1/3 cup of olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt

Knead your dough for about 10 minutes or until it’s nice and smooth. Then separate your dough into as many pieces as you want. Mix together a butter mixture.

  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter (I only had salted butter)
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Apply butter mixture to the top of your dough. Then add cheese, pepper red flakes, and oregano n top. Bake at 425 for about eight minutes and then it will be done.

My dough came out really fluffy and I believe I could have made more and made them more thin. Also I did not press down the dough like a pizza with a crust and instead placed the cheese right now top. I will attempt to make these again one day and see how these small adjustments will make a difference.

Overall they came our delicious. Let me know if you attempt to make them yourself. I love a good cheese bread recipe. Classy eating!
